The Inner Canvas

The Inner Canvas is our monthly clinician-led “creative smorgasbord” drop-in group where anything goes, and everything is art. Think of it as the place where all your favorite CCS creative vibes meet in one room. Journaling? Yes. Doodling? Absolutely. Collage, neurographics, watercolor, poetry, sensory prompts, journaling pages, guided reflection, imagination breaks? All fair game.

Participants will move through guided grounding/visualization, writing/journaling practices, art/doodling prompts, and other unique creative coping practices, with time for optional sharing woven throughout. It’s all designed so you can engage at your own pace and in the way that feels right that day. Each month, led by Lauren Morales, LCSW, this 90-minute special drop-in explores a new theme designed to help young adults facing cancer tap into meaning, expression, grounding, resilience, and a little bit of magic. Grab whatever supplies you love or whatever is in reach, follow the guided prompts, and let your creativity do the talking. There is no right way to show up. There is only your way.

Whether you arrive needing a soft landing, a burst of inspiration, shared laughter and silliness, a moment to breathe, or simply an hour to create with people who get it, The Inner Canvas is here to hold it all. Explore. Play. Reflect. Make a mess. Make something beautiful. Make something weird. You cannot do this wrong, because it is your Inner Canvas! Register once and drop in any month that works for your schedule.

💬 Please Note: Inner Canvas workshops do not include mailed art supplies. Participants are responsible for providing their own materials (e.g., paper and drawing tools) in order to fully engage in the workshop activities. Inner Canvas workshops are not psychotherapy, counseling, or mental health treatment. These workshops are clinician-led community spaces intended for creative expression and peer connection. Sharing is voluntary. Participation in an Inner Canvas workshop does not establish a therapeutic relationship with Lauren Morales, LCSW, or Cactus Cancer Society.
