September 2022 Programs

A small branch with pale green and yellow leaves in the backround, with a cluster of orange greens in the foreground.

It’s back to school time for learners all over the country, but here at Cactus Cancer Society, we’re bringing you a line up of creative, fun, and supportive programs sure to help you transition from summer to fall.

Photographs of Meaning

The Photographs of Meaning group is designed to provide a space for young adult cancer patients and survivors to share their cancer stories through the use of photography. Whether you are in treatment and taking photos at your infusion center, or navigating the confusion of survivorship at home, your photos are encouraged and welcome. Each week for 8 weeks, you can share photographs that you have taken with your phone or camera and tell a brief story about what the photograph means to you.

8 Thursdays starting September 8 at 4:00-5:30pm PT / 6:00-7:30pm CT / 7:00-8:30pm ET

Unspoken Ink Express

Join us as we host a one-night version of one of our most popular programs, Unspoken Ink! In this two-hour program, you’ll tap into your creativity with a community of your peers in a non-judgmental, supportive environment. Unspoken Ink is crafted to bring you through your experience of cancer from diagnosis to survivorship with prompts in the form of images, poems, and artwork. You don’t need to be a professional writer, or even someone who considers themselves a writer. We firmly believe that a writer is someone who writes – and that’s just about everyone!

Monday, September 12, 2022 from 4-6 PM PT/ 6-8 PM CT/ 7-9 PM ET

Art Workshop: Pie Garland

Fall is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready with a brand new art workshop. Join us to make a Felt Pie Garland! You can deck out your fireplace or doorway with the image of cherry, pumpkin, and sweet potato pie. Grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte and get to work creating this one-of-a-kind craft that will bring some festive flair to your home.

We’ll provide the stuff, you and your kiddo provide the conversation!
