Cosmic Layers: Galaxy and Pattern Workshop 🚀

Suit up, YAs with glioma, AML, or ALL! Prepare for launch, tap into your creativity, and make some space for yourself in the universe.

Join us at YA Cancer Gabfest 2026 for a special pre-conference as we head into the creative cosmos for an art workshop inspired by astronauts, galaxies, and the worlds we carry within us as young adult cancer survivors and patients.

We’ll start by using oil pastels to create a bold, colorful galaxy that becomes the canvas for our astronaut. Blend colors, build constellations, create distant planets, or invent a universe that exists entirely in your imagination. Then we’ll shift our focus to the astronaut, filling their spacesuit with Zentangle-inspired patterns using repeating lines, shapes, and doodles. Your astronaut can be intricate, simple, orderly, wonderfully chaotic, or a little bit of everything.

This workshop is all about slowing down, experimenting, and creating without worrying about getting it “right.” No art experience is needed; we’ll offer loose guidance and plenty of permission to experiment and play.

The best part? We’ll send registered participants everything they need to create with us. Before the workshop, we’ll send off creative supplies to help you assemble your galactic piece. All you need to bring is yourself, plus a little curiosity and a willingness to try something new!

Special thanks to Servier for sponsoring this workshop and helping make creative connection possible.
