Glioma Creative Arts Book Club: Ideas Worth Stealing 🕵️

Calling all creative collectors! Creative Arts Book Club is returning for a four-week series created exclusively for young adults living with glioma.

Together, we’ll explore The Steal Like an Artist Journal by Austin Kleon, an interactive notebook filled with prompts, lists, illustrated exercises, and creative challenges. The book celebrates a truth at the heart of creativity: we gather inspiration from the things we love, remix what catches our attention, and turn it into something personal.

Each week, we’ll put that idea into practice by making mixtapes, filling comic-book speech bubbles, exploring what excites or drains us, creating lists of things we want to learn, and collecting inspiration for our own “swipe files.” These playful exercises can help you generate ideas, reconnect with curiosity, and discover more of your creative voice while spending time with other young adults who understand life with glioma.

Share Your Glioma Experience 

During the final 30 minutes of each session, we’ll hold a compensated focus group about living with glioma as a young adult. We want to understand the barriers you have encountered, the support you have received, what has been missing, and how glioma has affected your daily life, relationships, identity, mental health, and future.

We know sharing these experiences can feel personal and vulnerable. We are deeply grateful for your perspective, which will help inform future glioma research, resources, and initiatives for young adults.

Who: Young adults ages 18–45 diagnosed with glioma
What: A four-week Creative Arts Book Club 
When: Thursdays, October 15, October 22, October 29, and November 5
Time: 4–6 p.m. PT / 5–7 p.m. MT / 6–8 p.m. CT / 7–9 p.m. ET
Where: Online via Zoom
Compensation: $10 Amazon gift card per focus group session, with $50 total for participating in all four sessions, plus a free copy of The Steal Like an Artist Journal!
