Cancer Secrets: A Headache wrapped in diarrhea

Part of our ongoing Cancer Secrets series, where our community shares the truths that often go unsaid.

Front Text:
A smiling cactus surrounded by the words: “Cancer is a headache wrapped in diarrhea.”

Secret:
“My spouse loves some music my mind finds awful. They played an annoying song, and I said it sounded like a headache wrapped in diarrhea. That made them laugh so hard. Realized during the random postcard event that it also applies to cancer.”

Sometimes the only way to survive cancer is to make it ridiculous.
This secret gets it exactly right. Cancer can be painful, messy, absurd, and still somehow funny. Humor is what lets us breathe again. Laughter doesn’t erase the pain, but it sure makes carrying it a little easier.
