Cactus Cancer Society is hosting an online, day-long, young adult cancer survivorship event inspired by the five themes of the show Queer Eye. Join us on Saturday, June 25th, from 8 am-1 pm PT / 10 am-3 pm CT / 11 am-4 pm ET for Inside the Terrarium: A Day of Restoration. We’ll have 5, one-hour workshop sessions highlighting each theme.
More than just a series of webinars, the event will be extremely interactive and will allow young adults facing cancer to engage with one another and to meaningfully connect with subject-matter experts.
We have a more detailed agenda coming soon but until then, read on to see what we have in store! (Some things may rearrange themselves a bit).
Design & Living Space: Think classic Cactus Cancer Society Art Workshop paired with ideas and strategies on creating a safe and comforting space where you can retreat to rest, recharge, and express your creativity.
Fashion & Personal Style: This session will feature a panel of cancer survivors (more agenda info TBD!) sharing their tips and tricks on establishing a confident sense of personal style post-cancer diagnosis. Whether you’ve decided to be flat post-mastectomy, have an ostomy bag, or are adjusting to how you feel in your body, this panel of survivors will discuss all of the nitty-gritty details that patients want to know about.
Cooking & Nutrition: We’ll host a lunch hangout along with a cooking demonstration. You’ll learn tricks and tips for preparing a nourishing meal while eating your own lunch and engaging with other young adults facing cancer.
Lifestyle & Confidence: Self confidence can take a big hit following a cancer diagnosis. In this session, led by Julie Larson, LCSW, as she walks you through how to give yourself a much needed pep talk and as she offers the tools to remind yourself just how confident, tough, resilient (and maybe a bit prickly) you truly are.
Skincare & TLC: Treatment, age, and environmental factors can all take their toll. In this session, you’ll learn from experts about the latest in skincare, clean products that can help nurture your skin, and some home remedies you can do to show your skin some tender loving care.
Who: young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers and those who care for them
When:Â Saturday, June 25th from 8 am-1 pm PT / 10 am-3 pm CT / 11 am-4 pm ET via video chat.*
