The Inner Canvas: Begin Again 🌅

A new year can feel like a blank page, a continuation, a reset, or honestly, just another Wednesday.

In this January edition of The Inner Canvas: Begin Again, we’ll explore what it means to enter a new season with intention. Instead of focusing on resolutions or measuring ourselves against a list of goals, we’ll get curious about how we want to feel, what we want more room for, and what we want to carry with us into the year ahead.

Throughout our 90 minutes together, we’ll move through guided grounding and visualization, journaling and reflection, and therapeutic art response activities inspired by the Begin Again theme. You’ll have opportunities to respond through words, drawing, color, symbols, and whatever else helps you make sense of what comes up.

One of our creative practices will be A Word Without Words. You’ll choose a personal word or intention for the year, then create a symbol for it without actually writing the word. Using shape, line, pattern, imagery, and color, you’ll build your own visual shorthand for something you want to return to throughout the year.

Optional sharing and conversation will be woven throughout, and you can participate at whatever level feels right that day. Led by Lauren Morales, LCSW, The Inner Canvas is a monthly creative drop-in for young adults facing cancer to explore meaning, expression, grounding, resilience, and a little bit of magic through therapeutic art and creative coping.

No art experience required. Bring whatever supplies you have nearby, follow the prompts, and see what begins to take shape.
