Through the Lens: Life Beyond Young Adult Cancer

Study Description

This project aims to increase social awareness about young adult cancer. This advocacy campaign will bring together photographs and brief narratives from young adult cancer patients and survivors.

Am I Eligible to Participate?

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are a young adult who has been diagnosed with cancer
  • Understand the day-to-day experiences of life with cancer during treatment and the challenges and triumphs of life outside of your medical care

What Will I Be Asked to Do?

A total of 5 young adult cancer patients and survivors will be selected to join this project’s Young Adult Advisory Board, to guide the development of the theme, title, and marketing plan for a national photo exhibit that will focus on cancer in young adulthood. Participation includes ten 1-hour online group meetings, with limited outside work requested to help you prepare for each meeting. You’ll also be asked to complete a 15-minute online survey after participating in the study.

Will I Be Compensated?

Participants will receive a $1,000 consultant fee. This will come as $500 after the first Advisory Board meeting and $500 after the last Advisory Board meeting.

SHARE: Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivors

Study Description

The purpose of the study is to better understand the day-to-day experiences of caregivers of young adult cancer patients in order to learn how to enhance caregiver well-being.

Am I Eligible to Participate?

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are age 18 or older
  • Are currently an informal caregiver
  • Care for a patient who is between the ages of 18 and 35
  •  

What Will I Be Asked to Do?

You’ll be asked to complete two 30-minute surveys (one at the beginning and one at the end of the study), as well as 4 daily 3-minute surveys over the course of two weeks.

Will I Be Compensated?

Participants will receive $100 in compensation.

Momentary Well-Being of Caregivers of Young Adult Cancer Patients

Study Description

The purpose of the study is to culturally adapt an evidence-based psychotherapeutic intervention for Mandarin-speaking and Vietnamese speaking Americans with metastatic cancer.

Am I Eligible to Participate?

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Are living with solid tumor metastatic cancer (cancer that spread from where it first started to a distant part of the body, often Stage 4)
  • Are of Chinese or Vietnamese heritage
  • Prefer speaking in Mandarin or Vietnamese

What Will I Be Asked to Do?

You’ll be asked to do a 10-15 minute demographic phone call, a 1 hour Zoom/phone interview, and a 30-45 minute follow-up Zoom/phone interview.

Will I Be Compensated?

Participants will receive $80 in e-gift cards.

Roadmap to Parenthood

Study Description

The purpose of the study is to test whether an informational website about fertility and family building after cancer is helpful for young female cancer survivors. 

Am I Eligible to Participate?

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Were assigned female sex at birth
  • Are between the ages of 18 and 45
  • Have completed primary cancer treatment (women on hormone therapy or long-term adjuvant maintenance therapies are eligible)
  • Desire to have a child (or more children) or are uncertain about family-building plans 

What Will I Be Asked to Do?

You’ll be asked to complete four online 30-45 minute surveys over the course of 12 months.

Will I Be Compensated?

Participants will receive $30 in compensation for each survey, for a total possible compensation of $120.
