Do you like to draw?  Are you a young adult cancer survivor or caregiver?

Welcome to Lacuna Loft’s online Drawing Workshop, the 1st and now the 8th in our #LetsMakeStuff @LacunaLoft series of online workshops!

This workshop is designed to teach you the basics of sketching, drawing, and shading.  If you’ve never done this before, you’re in luck!  Brett will go step-by-step through everything!  If you love drawing and you’re a real pro already, no problem!  While some of the tutorial will be more than you need, the rest of the time spent drawing and being artsy with other young adult cancer peers will be totally worth it.

If you participated in the workshop in May 2016, the content will be exactly the same so please sit this one out.  But have no fear, we’ll have creative workshops each month that you can join in the future instead!

This workshop is a 2-hour commitment and will occur via video hangout on Sunday, February 11th @ 10 am PT / noon CT / 1 pm ET. 15 young adult cancer survivors and caregivers can join. Can’t make the dates this time? Don’t worry! We’ll offer other Creative Workshops in the coming months!

How does it work? After you sign up below, you’ll receive everything you need to participate in the Drawing Workshop in the mail! Yep! We’ll send you just about everything you’ll need! Then, Lacuna Loft will send you an email about a week before the workshop with information on how to join the video chat. (Just in case you’re wondering…to join the video chat you’ll need the link that we’ll provide you, a headset with a microphone, and a webcam). That’s it!

Sponsored in part by a grant from Genentech and Shire.

Setting Goals in 2017

setting goals in 2017

New Years is a great chance to push the reset button and redefine priorities.  While I have many goals for my new year, professionally and personally, I decided to focus on 4.  Move, Breathe, Hustle, and Clear.

Move: Get moving!  Walk 12,000 steps or exercise, or both!  I’m also participating in the 2017 Gold Challenge.

Breathe:  Meditate!  Using the Headspace app, I’ve been trying to stay on top of a meditation practice.

Hustle:  My work hours often blend into my personal hours.  I’m making a more concerted effort to define work time and home time (and to keep them separate).

Clear:  Get organized!  Clean up, put away, get rid of.  I live in a tiny apartment and there is a specific place for *everything.*  When anything is not put away, the whole apartment becomes a jumble of nonsense and chaos.

My current goal is to do a little bit of all of those things, moving, breathing, hustling, and clearing, every day.  I assembled squares with each word into a calendar and mark each chunk off as I accomplish.  So far, the system is set up and I’m hustling and clearing…but not doing a lot of moving and breathing.  🙂  I’m a work in progress!

If you want to use my same system, you can download the January calendar in the multi-colored version here, the black and white version here, and a blank version of each here and here in case you want to add in your own words.  The picture copy/pastes wonderfully into a normal, sized word document.

What are your new year’s resolutions or goals?  How are you setting goals in 2017?
