Have A Snowy Weekend

snowy landscape with house

Pfew!  A lot has happened our first week back!  Don’t worry though, we still have several surprises up our sleeves for the weeks to come.  This weekend, Lacuna Loft is at City of Hope’s Adolescent + Young Adult Cancer Summit in LA.  We’re excited about that California sunshine and meeting some of you in person!  If you’re there, make sure to stop and say hello!

Have a snowy weekend Lacuna Lofties!

Have A Holiday Weekend

friends

Hey there!

Today, we’re doing things just a little bit different than normal.  Over the past 3.5 years, Lacuna Loft has delivered blog posts, Creative Art Workshops, Creative Writing Workshops, Young Adult Cancer Book Clubs, Meditation Groups, Awkward Auntie answers, and so much more.  All of our programs are specifically geared for young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, all of our programs are delivered online so that survivors and caregivers can live absolutely everywhere and still get the age-appropriate support and connection they deserve, and all of our content and programs are delivered absolutely free.

But there is a cost to everything.  Our programs require attention, planning, technology, scheduling, outreach, communication with volunteers and program participants, and they need money.  In order to deliver programs to young adult cancer survivors without charging any fees, Lacuna Loft absorbs all of the costs for every single program.  How do we do that?  With help from our generous program sponsors, event sponsors, and donors.

If you want to help support any piece of our programs, from the $7 shipping cost of a creative art workshop supply box to the $250 cost of one survivor participating in an 8-week writing workshop, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

One young adult survivor at a time, you make a difference.

Speaker Series Talk: Everything you wanted to know about sex and relationships after cancer

sex after cancer

A few months ago we launched our newest program here at Lacuna Loft, the Speaker Series!  Our 6th Speaker Series Talk is now live!  You can now watch Dr. Anne Katz talk about Everything you wanted to know about sex and relationships after cancer.

Dr. Katz is an expert in the field of sexual health and wellness after cancer and further specializes in young adults.  Her talk is a must see.  Plus, if you want to submit your own question about sex and relationships after young adult cancer, you can do so anonymously in our Awkward Auntie program.

In this open and honest conversation about sex and relationships, Dr. Anne Katz will share the advice she has given to many YAs during and after treatment for cancer. While YAs usually find their way with dating and new or altered relationships, they often need some support and guidance, or merely an open ear and heart to help them through a challenging time. In this event for Lacuna Loft, Dr Katz will talk about disclosing your cancer history to a new potential partner, how to deal with scars and missing body parts and anything else that YOU need to be answered.

Psst…want to submit a topic for a future Speaker Series?  You can do so here!

Lacuna Loft Is Three!

lacuna loft

Lacuna Loft is 3!  It’s been my immense privilege to be a part of Lacuna Loft over the last 3 years.  From the moment we received our nonprofit status, the Board of Directors and I hit the ground running.  With the support of you, our amazing young adult cancer community, we grew Lacuna Loft from a blog to an organization with 12 programs.  Each month we bring together thousands of young adult cancer survivors and caregivers.  You all have shown up in full force, helping one another through all of the hard times and joyful times that young adult cancer bring.  You all are amazing and brave and courageous and Lacuna Loft would not exist without you.

We want to celebrate our nonprofit anniversary with you!  Donate at least $15 and an anonymous donor will match the gift up to $500, doubling your gift to young adult cancer survivors and caregivers!
