Our Young Adult Cancer (YAC) Hangouts bring together young adult cancer survivors and caregivers each month in an informal video hangout where you can chat about anything you’d like. Whether you’re talking about cancer or anything else under the sun, join together with other people who understand what it’s like to go through young adult cancer.

Join us as we partner up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for Nourish, Nurture, & Renew: A Roadmap from Burnout to Self-Care! This free 6-week workshop designed for social workers and nurses addresses compassion fatigue and burnout and developing a plan of self-care. The workshop is built on evidence-based, peer-reviewed research indicating that expressive writing has been successful as a therapeutic tool for improved health, well-being, and general functioning. It will be an online, live, interactive workshop and continuing education credits will be offered.

Looking for a way to relax? Join Angie Giallourakis (aka Mamma G) as she leads us in a monthly guided yoga Nidra meditation class. This program is in partnership with Elephants and Tea.

Join us for The Bridge: Where Before And After Meet, a journal workshop for grief, loss, and healing, This 6-week workshop is facilitated by Jean Rowe, LCSW, Certified Journal Therapist, using journal techniques to recognize, embrace, and cultivate acceptance around the themes of grief, loss, and healing.

It’s time for another round of the Young Adult Cancer Book Club, and this time, we’re reading Wild, by Cheryl Strayed. Read the book along with us and check out our Young Adult Voices Blog each Friday for a discussion of that week’s chapters. Once we’re done reading the book, join us on Zoom for a book club discussion!

Join us for the Survivorship Series! You’ll get together with a group of your young adult cancer peers for a six-week program experience that hits on all the highlights of Cactus Cancer Society’s workshops. Every other week starting March 15th, you’ll attend a Trivia Night, a Writing Workshop, an Art Workshop, and a bonus Young Adult Cancer Hangout night! Each week, the same group of people will hop on Zoom and participate with one another along with a facilitator, so you’ll be sure to form a tight-knit community.

Join us for Grief to Gratitude: A Yoga and Mindfulness Workshop. This 6-week program will normalize grief and help you tune-in and connect to your body, mind, and soul through yoga, breathwork, meditation, and other contemplative practices. We will join together as a community to discuss, process, and move through grief to find our inner GPS and sense of self. Together we will focus on life as it is now in the present moment, after a cancer diagnosis, compared to the life once imagined.

6 Weekly Sessions, Starting March 16 and Ending April 20

Our Art Workshops are designed to teach you the basics of an art form such as sketching, painting, jewelry making, crafting, and more. We’ll send you all the supplies you need and you’ll join together on zoom with other young adults facing cancer to learn the craft! Join us for this fun project as we use different types of media to create a one-of-a-kind cactus sign!

Led by LCSW Dennis Heffern, each month we’ll hear from a different community member on a certain topic with a chance for open discussion at the end. In this guys- only program, we’ll shoot the breeze with men of all young adult cancer experiences. Nothing is off the table. You won’t want to miss it!
