For this service to be of the greatest value to you, they recommend reading through their articles and sample resumes or downloading a free copy of their Job Search Toolkit (all on their website!), then updating your resume based on the best practices suggested, before submitting your resume for review.

The service is completely free of charge to cancer patients and survivors!

Cancer and Careers, a wonderful organization offering career assistance to cancer survivors, has open their micro-grants application period.

From Cancer and Careers:  “People who have been diagnosed with cancer face a number of challenges when trying to manage working through treatment, returning to work or finding a job — even years after treatment. Our Professional Development Micro-Grant program offers cancer patients and survivors financial assistance for professional development opportunities that will enable them to enhance or build new skills.”

Get Back To Work After Cancer With The Manager’s Kit

Young adult cancer changes a lot.  We talk about that over and over and over and over here at Lacuna Loft.  Getting back to “normal” life after cancer is challenging.  Are you a young adult cancer survivor looking to get back to work after cancer?  Cancer and Careers, a wonderful organization based in New York, created a kit just for you.  The Manager’s Kit is “designed for you to give to your boss to help start or smooth the conversation.”

The Manager’s Kit includes an explanation on how to use the kit, a “dear supervisor” letter to offer your employer from Cancer and Careers, a list of “need-to-know” laws and privacy laws, work strategies, and so much more.
